Lauderdale Grill

We ate here on a Sunday evening.  This is a place that seems to cater to their bar patrons and not the restaurant customers.  It was extremely loud inside and we were seated as far away from the bar as possible.  The service was extremely slow.  We were there for an hour and a half.  About 15 minutes into our dining experience, we witnessed a bus boy drop a plate and food/sauce flew off.  He didn't clean it up.  The hostess came by, she saw it and walked passed it.  A half hour after that, our waiter dropped a chicken wing bone in the same spot.  He didn't pick it up.  He later kicked it under a table.  I didn't say anything because I really wanted to see if anyone would clean up the mess on their own, but it was still there when we left.
The food that splattered on the back of a bench.

The chicken wing and the trail of food on the floor going up the side of the bench seat.

As far as the food goes, it was good, but not great. Jeff ordered the Key West Seafood Sampler Plate and was disappointed in receiving only four shrimp.  We are in Florida for heavens sakes. I ordered the ribeye.  It was good, but not good enough to put up with such poor service.

Las Vegas Cuban Cuisine

This was my first time eating at a Cuban restaurant.  The food was wonderful!   I enjoyed the art on the walls.  The waitstaff was very nice and our meal was served before we could even finish our appetizer.

Inside

We started out with Empanadas which is a turnover filled with meat.  We chose ground beef.

We were served toasted bread.  It was pretty plain.

Toasted bread
I ordered Bistec de Palomilla.  Menu description says: Our traditional style steak, thin, juicy and very tasty. Served with chopped onions and parsley.  Black beans, rice and sweet plantains are the sides.

The steak was delicious!  I loved it.  The rice was seasoned nicely.  I didn't expect that. I thought it would be plain.  I didn't try the black beans only because I had eaten a of beans at lunch and thought that was enough. The sweet plantains had a very nice flavor.

Black Beans
Jeff ordered El Trio.  Menu description says: A combination of our most popular entree, chicken fillet, pork chop Palomilla steak served with white rice, black beans and sweet plantains.  Jeff thought it was really good.  He didn't care much for the chicken and I agreed after trying a bite. We just didn't care for the flavor of it but he liked his steak and pork chop.  He loved the plantains.

El Trio

We had planned on having dessert because we love Tres Leches which is a dense, moist cake made with evaporated, sweetened condensed milk and whole milk.  We were too full and didn't think this was a good dessert to take home.  I was disappointed because I really had planned on dessert.

This is a great place to eat and the prices are very reasonable.  My dinner was only $11.95.  My first Cuban food experience was a great one thanks to Las Vegas Cuban Cuisine!

Broadwalk Restaurant & Grille

Jeff and I wanted to find a nice place to eat while having a view of the ocean.  We ate here on a Saturday night.  We were quite disappointed.  We thought by the name that this would be more of a grill, but the menu had mainly Italian dishes.

I finally decided on a personal sized pepperoni and mushroom pizza.  The pizza was okay.  It was really lacking in seasonings.

Personal sized pizza
Jeff ordered fried shrimp and calamari.  The shrimp looked burned, but he said it was okay but the calamari was terrible.  It was so tough that he had trouble eating it.

The employees seem to have a great time working there. They were joking and yelling at each other the whole time.  I felt like we were in their way of having a good time.

We definitely should have kept walking down the beach and found a better place to eat.  We felt like we wasted money and calories eating here.  We did have a nice view though.

Knucklehead Burgers

Knucklehead Burgers is located in a strip mall in Davie, FL.   Orders are placed at the counter and then the food is brought to your table.

I chose the Rodeo Burger which is a burger with a thick slab smoked pecan bacon, melted sharp cheddar cheese, king cut onion rings & hickory smoked BBQ sauce.  We were going to order an onion ring basket to share but we were told the basket wasn't much bigger than a single sized order.  I ordered the combo which included a drink and I chose onion rings as my side.  The burger was good.  It was very juicy, so somewhat messy to eat.

Jeff ordered the El Loko Kalliente Burger which is a burger with grilled jalapeƱos, melted spicy pepper-jack cheese & slightly smoky chipotle mayo.  He thought the burger was good, but he has had better burgers for the money.  His total bill was $13 which included his drink and onion rings.

We both liked the food here, but it wasn't anything special.

Marino's Italian Restaurant

This restaurant has been open since 1970.  We heard from some friends that this is a place that we must try.  The thing that makes this place unique is that along with complimentary bread, diners are given half a Cornish hen and a bean salad.  I am not sure why they do it, but it is nice.

Bread, Bean Salad that has an Italian dressing and Cornish Hen that are complimentary.
I was disappointed that the menu did not include any cream sauces.  They only have red sauces.  I ordered the Chicken Marsala and my side was spaghetti.  The Chicken Marsala was delicious!  The chicken was so tender.  The sauce tasted more like a beef gravy to me, but it was great.  I didn't care as much for the spaghetti.  The sauce lacked flavor.  The dinner also came with a side salad.  I ordered it with house dressing.  The house dressing is a sweet creamy Italian.  It was good.

Jeff ordered the Surf and Turf.  Cheese ravioli was his side.  He was very disappointed in his meal.  I told him that you don't go to an Italian place and order Surf and Turf.  He agreed.

The waitress was very nice.  The service was fast until it came time to pay the bill.  Jeff wanted to order dessert but changed his mind when the service slowed down.  He decided it wasn't worth waiting on dessert. We enjoyed eating here, but wish they would expand their menu to include some cream sauces.

Chuck's Steak House and Salad Bar

Chuck's Steak House has been in South Florida since 1973.  We heard from several people that the salad bar was fantastic and some people only order it.  I checked the menu and the price for just the salad bar is $10, so I imagined it to have salad, meat and maybe some desserts.  I was quite surprised to find that it only had salad, some toppings, dressing and bread.  I looked around to see if I was missing another bar, but I was not.  I don't understand the hype at all.  The salad was good, but definitely not worth $10.

Inside
Luckily, I ordered a steak to go with my salad bar.  I ordered the Black Diamond Steak which is a 7 oz top sirloin marinated in Chuck's Special Recipe.  The steak was good, but I did add steak sauce to it.

Jeff ordered the Grilled Ribeye.  He said it was good, but he has had better at family steak houses.

The service was good.  The food was good, but it did not live up to the hype for us.
