A1 Super Buffet

We enjoy trying Chinese buffets.  We have had some really good ones and some bad ones.  This one was a disappointment to us.  When we walked in, I thought it was going to be good.  It is decorated nicely.

The host told us that they have recently changed their menu.  Many Chinese restaurant let you choose your food from the buffet and it is cooked for you.  This place allows you to cook the food yourself or you can choose the cooked food.  The cooked food is $12.99 and the uncooked is $17.99.  We chose the cooked food because the food that is normally on the buffet that is uncooked is not what we like.  We expected to have a nice selection of cooked foods to choose from, but we were wrong.  We had very limited food.  The food sat on a plate under a heat lamp.  It was quite disappointing.  Since I am allergic to shellfish, I was very limited to what I could eat here.  There were just a few chicken dishes and some spring rolls.  The food was not labeled well which is also a problem for patrons who are allergic to shellfish.

Each table comes with a fire pit for patrons to cook their food.
If we had chosen to cook our own food, I may have a totally different review to write.  We will not be going back to give them another try though.

Razzoo's Cajun Cafe

We ate here on a Saturday afternoon.  We arrived around 2:30 p.m. and the place was packed.  We had to wait about 20 minutes for a table.  We ate at this chain in Houston and then we had to wait about an hour on a Sunday night.  I really didn't expect to have to wait on a Saturday afternoon.

This place is somewhat loud with music and people, but it is not extreme.

We started our meal out with an appetizer of fried pickles.  The fried pickles were very good.

Fried pickles.  I think the red on the dipping sauce is red pepper.
I had a hard time deciding what I wanted to eat.  I considered a cajun pasta.  I decided to try their cajun fried steak.  The steak was okay.  I didn't care much for the breading. It was rather boring.  The gravy was good and it also had the red pepper.  The corn had peppers and it was good.

Jeff ordered the Seafood Combo, but the waitress thought he said Seafood Gumbo.  She brought him gumbo first, but quickly corrected the error.  He enjoyed his plate which had shrimp, catfish, fries, corn and hush puppies.

Seafood Combo
We enjoyed eating here. The service was good even though there was a mistake with the order.  We definitely would eat here again.

Johnny Carino's Country Italian

We ate here for dinner on a Sunday. The place was almost empty.  This is a chain restaurant which we tried in Missouri City, TX and the business there was also slow and that location has closed.  I am not sure why business is slow because the food and service are both good.

View of the kitchen from our table.

Bread is served with oil and roasted garlic.  It is very good

We started our meal off with an appetizer of fried mozzarella sticks.  The mozzarella sticks were very good.

Our meals came with a salad.  I had mine with a creamy garlic dressing.  The salad was a little light on the dressing.
Side salad

I ordered chicken marsala which was served over fettuccine noodles.  It was good.  I have had better, but it was good.

Jeff ordered the seafood pasta.  He said it was good.  It was light on shrimp but had other seafood.

Seafood Pasta
We enjoyed eating here.  They have a nice variety on the menu and the prices are good.  I really don't know why the business is so slow here.

Babe's Chicken Dinner House

We ate here for lunch on a Saturday.  There are no photos because it was too dark inside and I only had my cell phone and not my camera.  I wish I could have taken photos because the inside was really fun.  It is decorated like a small town with various business along the walls like a barber shop, bike shop, etc.  When we walked in, it took a little while for our eyes to adjust.  It was that dark.

I looked at the website before we went to check prices.  There are no prices on the website.  I was a little hesitant because the website says the waitresses do the Hokey Pokey and they encourage patrons to do the same.  I definitely didn't want to do that, but I can see where it could be fun to watch.  There was no Hokey Pokey while we were there.

There are no menus at this restaurant. They have fried chicken, chicken fried steak, chicken tenders and fried catfish.  You choose one of the four and then all the sides are served family style.  The sides are salad, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, corn and biscuits.

I ordered fried chicken.  I was brought half a chicken.  I really liked it.  Jeff ordered the fried catfish.  He said it was good.  The sides were all good and they were all you can eat.

The chicken was $12.99 and I think the fish was $13.99.

We enjoyed eating here.  I thought it was a fun place and the food was good.

El Fenix Mexican Restaurant

We ate here last year when we were in Arlington, TX area, so I was excited to try it again.

The chips that are served with salsa are deep fried, I think. They are very crisp. Each person is given their own bowl of salsa, so you can double dip as much as you like.

We ordered an appetizer here which is rare for us to do in a Mexican restaurant since we feel chips and salsa are enough. Jeff wanted to try the stuffed jalapenos though.  I expected this to be very hot, but it wasn't.  It was good.

Stuffed jalapenos. They were stuffed with chicken.
I ordered the beef chimichanga.  I know that is a shocker.  LOL

The only thing the chimi had in it was shredded beef.  It was good, but a little cheese or some beans would have been nice.

Jeff ordered a tamale trio.  He said it was good.

I enjoyed eating here again.   The good is good as is the service and the prices are reasonable.

Billy Bob's Texas

If you are visiting Billy Bob's Texas, you are probably not really going there for the food.  Billy Bob's is the "World's Largest Honky Tonk" and is located in Forth Worth.  Jeff and I went there on a Saturday.  Actually, I thought they would have a nice restaurant.  The restaurant they have is small.  You place your order at the counter, but a person does bring the food to your table.

The restaurant

The menu is pretty small.  It has hamburgers, hot dogs, BBQ and chicken fried steak.  I chose the chicken fried steak sandwich.  I was surprised that it didn't come with gravy.  It came with lettuce and tomato.  I added mustard and ketchup to it.  It was good.

Chicken Fried Steak Sandwich with Fries
We ordered fried pickles as an appetizer.  These were really good.  The breading was pretty plain, but the pickles themselves were really good.  I would definitely order these again.

Fried Pickles
Jeff ordered a BBQ plate.  He said it was cold.  There was one guy taking orders and then he also had to bring the food out.  He was quite busy and the food sat on the counter for a while so that is probably why Jeff's was cold.  Jeff said the turkey was really good.  I think the other meat was beef.

BBQ Plate
The walls around the restaurant were covered with buns that were signed by celebrities.

No matter when you go to Billy Bob's, you will have to pay a $2 cover charge.  Personally, I think they should take $2 off your food bill since you are spending money there and not just looking.  It is not much money, of course, but still we did spend additional money.

After we ate, we walked around and saw guitars signed by celebrities as well as hand prints.  There is a lot to see at Billy Bob's.

Yes, there is a bull riding arena, too!
We enjoyed our time here, but I don't see us going back.

Boulevard Grill

Boulevard Brewery is a brewery here.  Jeff was excited to try this restaurant, but we were surprised that it is located in the Sheraton.

We ate here on a Sunday and the place was almost empty.  They have big screens TV showing the KC Chiefs game and the place was empty. All the booth tables had their own TV.  It was not empty because the Chiefs were on.  They have the best record right now and Kansas City is very excited about them.  I think they just have a bad location being in a hotel.  We almost didn't go because they are located in a hotel.  Hotel restaurants tend to be pricey, but this place was not.

We started our meal with sweet potato fries with a marshmallow dipping sauce.  It was really good.

Sweet Potato Fries with Marshmallow Dipping Sauce

I ordered a three cheese cheeseburger with bacon. The three cheeses were American, Cheddar and Colby Jack.  The burger was good, but I really couldn't tell there were three cheeses on it.

Three Cheese Cheeseburger
Jeff ordered a burger that was spicy. It was served with salsa. I can't remember the name and the menu is not available online.  It is really hard to find much about this place online and that is probably another reason that they do not have a lot of business.  Jeff said the burger was good.

We enjoyed eating here. The food was good as was the service.
